Measure three times, cut four times Pt.1

Tonight's update was...fun. Two plexi glass panels diffuse the crosswalk signs and reveal a message. If it isnt obvious the message is: "stop Windows" and "start Macintosh".

Though, we failed more than a few times at the correct methods and measurements, we've finally got our formula down pat: First, we drew or letters and designs by hand on vinyl sticker. Then applied that vinyl to the plexi glass we sandblasted to give it a faux-frost to diffuse the light. After the vinyl was lined up and applied we cut out our shapes and letters. Then, sprayed a few coats of black paint over our plexi to be our block out. After the block out dried we peeled the vinyl to reveal the design. Then finally cut our cardboard frames for the plexi so they would fit snugly in the lights. (some images are from other plexi not installed yet)

You may ask why we didnt just duct tape or glue the plexi onto the crosswalk lights? Well we tried multiple ways and, as it turns out, adhesive doesn't set well when the thermometer reads -4. Long night short; things worked out and look great!

Cuddle Time?

Quick update tonight. Ceramic cartoon-esk TV. Not sure if it can get any more windy out then on nights like this. (also, it's a lot higher than the picture might suggest)

It's time to get (ch)ill

This weeks project was a product of random inspiration and pure humor. We bought a clock at a thrift store for a buck and turned it into bling any narcissist would die to show off. The numbers were replaced with magazine clippings and reads "Go F*** Urself" (put your fingers down, it's twelve letters) Then we replaced the "big hand" with a clipping of a guy doing squats and the "little hand" with the same guy holding a weight in place of his junk. As the seconds go by the poor fellow is forced to insert his...well watch the video:

***UPDATE***
Turns out after a week or so of being up a crazy guy "found it in a dumpster" and tried to sell it to THIS, our local skate shop, for 3$! only 3 bucks?!?! needless to say they bought it.

Bitter Start

Interesting start on this bitter Thursday night. To christen the Free Street project we put up our first piece along with the piece used for our title bar (for now). Both are made of magazine clip outs pasted onto scavenged cardboard panels.

First piece was put up at the bus station (if you couldn't recognize the sign). Literally less than 5 minutes after we put it up we had to watch defeat-idly as a couple of workers happen to pull up right after us and take it down.

All this means is we can only get better results
                                                                Much more to come

***UPDATE***
Turns out the worker that took it didn't just toss it they took it home with them! Big ups to you man. Sorry if the debate it struck left you in a sore place with your boss. Appreciated.
